TERMS OF SALE
(Please read this page completely before you make the decision to buy birds.)
*** Please, read to the end of this page!
(I DO NOT SHIP BY AIR. I am unable to ship by air, no exceptions.)
#1) All birds are to be paid in full before shipment. See Terms of Sale for prices and options for birds and postage.
#2) Shipping cost is the cost of the shipping box and Priority Express postage combined.
#3) Notes on sex of individual birds are not an absolute guarantee.
I do my best at determining sex, by observation, beginning song, behavior,
and all possible indicators. However, if I make a mistake, I offer two options for reprisal.

- You may keep the bird, with no refund.
- If you desire a SECOND bird of the sex you originally ordered, you will pay full price for the second bird, but I will pay half the shipping cost of the second bird.
- A bird may be returned, if you follow my shipping instructions, at your cost of box and return postage. After I receive the bird in whole, healthy condition, I will refund your original purchase price, including shipping costs.
#4) Safe, ALIVE, arrival is guaranteed. Credit
of the bird's cost will be given on a replacement order in the same
calendar year. If a bird is DOA, I need to receive a phone call or
email within two hours of the time of box delivery/signature. I also
need to receive a photo of the body, within two hours. Any other
situation will be on a case by case basis. Please contact me with any
questions.
#5) I will do MY PART to give my little friends a safe trip from my home to yours!
I have made a few RULES, differently than in years past, that I think will be helpful.
I have made a few RULES, differently than in years past, that I think will be helpful.
- I will ship only healthy birds, of proper age to handle the stress in shipping.
- I will only ship on Mondays. This gives the most time possible to be delivered before any delays on the weekends.
- I will limit the number of birds per box. The number depends upon sex, breed and temperament of the birds.
- I will be watchful of weather conditions, along the entire shipping route.
I will not ship during extreme weather. - I will provide proper seed and veggies in the box.
I do not include actual water containers.
I have successfully shipped boxes with multiple birds across the USA, often with a day of delay. :) I regularly buy birds that are shipped to me! It works very well!
#6) Here is YOUR PART:
- Before the bird arrives, have your cage prepared, with food and water, and a bath.
Provide veggies/fruit that contain moisture, such as broccoli, apples, kale, etc.
This makes sure the birds get water, even if they don't recognize your water container immediately.
Canaries seem to LOVE/NEED a bath immediately after being in that box for a few days! And they will take a drink if needed, as they clean up. - Arrange to pick up the box at your local post office, rather than wait for it to travel around in the mail carrier's truck until it arrives at your door.
It also helps to give the local post office staff advance notice that a box of canaries will be arriving. - Most boxes will be available for pickup early in the day, most often before usual business hours. PLEASE pickup the box ASAP! This could be as early as 7 AM,
- Make sure the post office will be open on day of expected delivery.
This means: no holidays, no scheduled remodeling, power outages, etc.
I will not ship in the week before, or the week after, postal holidays. - Watch the weather forecast. We want settled weather, neither too hot or too cold.
- Talk to me! By phone, if possible. The better we communicate, the better it is for all of us. :)
#7) I do not 'reserve' or 'hold' birds in the months before I begin sales/shipping, generally
During Spring I am preoccupied with breeding season and during Summer the bird room is full to capacity with molting birds. I often forget names and it is best to STAY IN TOUCH near the time of Sales/Shipping during Fall and Early Winter.

#8) I will HAPPILY refer you to other breeders who may be in your area, or live closer to you for a shorter trip for the birds.
